This is another one of my final books I made for my foundation major project. The concept was In/Out, so I decided on not judging a book by its cover and re-worked and used old books to make new and interesting pieces.
After shredding a Sweet Valley High book called "Dangerous Love" I then weaved together the pieces in a traditional style, then photocopied and screen printed the result. I experimented with different colours and over printing the image on top of each other, I also printed other words over the top. The "cover" of the book is made from hard board and wood with a hinge so it opens like a book, then hand painted.
Some more of my final major project books I made on my foudation. "Dangerous" and "Love" are created using spare prints I had made of my weave, "Dangerous" was over printed with black and blue inks, while "Love" is overprinted with plain black ink. "Flock" is made from the middle of a book of letters written by Paul Cezanne which I hollowed out to create a different piece which I posted a few weeks ago, I then using the printing technique of flocking, by hand deleted letters on the page, changing how you read it, it almost looks like braille. The book is very tactile and is my favourite out of the three.
